Olivia Newton-John RIP

Post by Jim Eshelman » Mon Aug 08, 2022 1:14 pm

Olvia Newton-John was born September 26, 1948, 6:00 AM BST, Cambridge, England. She died today at her home in Los Angeles from the final round of her recurring cancer.

Transiting Neptune was in the degree of her Descendant. Saturn (exactly squared by Mars) was just past her local LA Midheaven.

Her current SLR had natal Saturn a few minutes from IC There were several positive (comforting) elements also, such as transiting Venus angular square Jupiter: I don't know the circumstances of her final hours. Similarly, her Demi-SLR (occurring tonight but already effective) also has natal Saturn a few minutes from IC (the SLR and Demi angles are essentially identical).

Here's the chart. (Eris was also closely setting.)

Recurring cancer hardly says it. Her first cancer diagnosis was in 1992--she fought off the Grim Reaper for thirty years. At the end, the cancer had metastasized to her bones (indeed one effect was that one of her recurrences was initially mis-diagnosed as sciatica). All forms of bone cancer whether primary or metastasized from other locations tend to be acutely painful. I had a roommate in skilled nursing once who was terminal with bone cancer. He was on morphine and fentanyl and that wasn't enough to control the pain. My sincere prayer Olivia wasn't suffering to that degree, but she was no doubt in pain.

Her chart is rather striking. Mercury plays a prominent role though it's middleground,it's also in aspect to her Gemini Moon and her tight Saturn-Uranus sextile, and of course her Sun is in Virgo.

Her "needs profile" ranking of her chart is striking not only because of the powerful Mercury presence but because of multiple planets - including both luminaries - at 100%. She seemed destined for gigantic impact. Double mercurial luminaries (that are 0°04' from mutual square), Jupiter 0°53' from IC. Here are the scores:

100 - Moon Sun Mercury Jupiter
96 - Uranus
72 - Neptune
25 - Saturn
7 - Mars
3 - Pluto
0 - Venus

I can't help but think her 0°05' Sun-Pluto octile had her living in the presence of death for all those decades - aside from showing her exceptional nature.

Her primary chart sickness indicator is probably her partile background Mars-Pluto square. For Mars-Pluto in medical astrology, my current posted summary is: "Cell inflammation. Catabolic processes. Accelerated energy generation. Stress or strain injuries (hypertension?). – Radical healing approaches (cell regeneration or cell damage). – May be a key to some forms of cancer."

Olivia has fully as much expensiveness as Veronica's Mercury. (0%) Yet the way she could sign a love song was rather striking, and in interview she always struck me as a person quite capable of giving and receiving love--and I don't think that was a facade. Another our weaknesses are our strengths case? At any rate, she's now in the care of the Love at the Heart of the Universe.

I wonder if what you are reading as Venus is Jupiter?

Oh... I wonder where she was at the time you saw her? For LA (I used Malibu, her house), Venus is within 1° of IC.

Indeed Mike. IMO, a very important aspect in her chart which would be overlooked by most Siderealist is her direct midpoint of ASC/MC = Venus (0,33). I never will forget when I contracted her Movie “Grease” (1978) and I thought how much “love” she exuberated on the silver screen, it was magnetic for the movie goers.

Don't recall where I saw her but it likely was in or near LA, and yeah that midpoint really tells a story. I wonder if it's common for a planet that seems inexpressive by angularity to be on one or more significant midpoints.

That’s a great question Mike. My best guess is Yes—if the midpoints involved personal points. I am still learning/pondering the use of midpoints, both with natals and mundo charts, combined with the principles of Sidereal Astrology. I will soon post about something I think I see as important with midpoints and welcome you and Jim’s constructed critical thoughts.

My very first album was Grease, a Yule gift from my middle brother. I still have it, and all of her lps. She really touched me. I loved her so. I learned all her songs by heart. I watched all her movies, and secretly wished she would marry my other crush Andy Gibb.
Her Saturn is opposite my Sun and square my moon and she for sure was my teacher in so many ways.

My favorite song by her, the one that as a child I heard and it made me wonder about my world, is The Promise.

Olivia I dont know if you made one man aware.....but you made me aware. I felt like you were singing that song to my heart and soul, and while you sang of Brother Dolphin, I know you meant all lifeforms.
