Everybody's view on house placement is kind of ambigious, partly because of the very real unanswered question "what's a house system?" And "does it have to work at every latitude?" cause of course, most of them don't work at high latitudes.

On this board, most of us try to stick to using things that have been observed to be useful, and when we don't we're pretty clear about it being speculation (like the PRN thread, which may or may not be a useful new method of progression.

Jim has a section here for houses with stickied posts about his latest thinking, but of course that's natal astrology. There's a lot of discussion in Arena's threads about house systems who was born at very high latitude, and has good reason to find that interesting. Most of the discussion is about finding a house system that works, more than asking if there's anything to any of them.

Fagan used the "octoscope" which is an 8 fold division based on time for awhile, but I think he moved past that later in life. But you can search for octoscope here and find what we have on that.

Angularity matters a great deal. House placement under any system seems to be something that's nice but not critical to interpretation, so until somebody has the time and knowledge to actually study the question with statistics, most of us skip it most of the time.

That doesn't help does it.

Edited to add: Be careful about house interpretations taken from horary astrology. Fagan was pretty clear about his opinion on that, including it with "thingish" thought.

Or, more simply, his rise in popularity was from Solar Return Moon exactly conj8unct natal Jupiter; and his birth chart has enough Uranus all on its own.

The main characteristic of 11th and 9th house placements in Solar Returns is that the planets are generally quite weak and inexpressive.
