Another Q1 vs Q2 test

Post by Jim Eshelman » Sat Jun 10, 2017 2:02 am

I decided to undertake another side-by-side Q1 vs Q2 test. Factors examined were natal, progressed, or transiting planets angular within 2°, and conjunctions, oppositions, or squares of progressed Moon to natal, progressed, or transiting planets within 1°. In each case, I then compelled myself to select which one was better (even if both were good, both were bad, or mixed - which one was better?). A few were tied or unscorable, but most were scorable.

I selected data that originally had been collated for a different purpose: For all events studied as mundane astrology events in my book Sidereal Mundane Astrology for which I had reliable timed birth data for a known key participant in the event, I used that event and that data together.

Here are the aspects and assessments:

Re: Another Q1 vs Q2 test

Of 31 events,

5 were tied
20 had the Q2 better than the Q1
7 had the Q1better than the Q2

As in every test I recall having ever done, and those that Bradley reported to me, the Q2 is better about three times as often as the Q1. In no case (except perhaps Roosevelt's death) was the Q2 bad when the Q1 was better.

CONCLUSION: As in other tests, I conclude that the Q2 is the correct way to calculate Secondary Progressions, This probably is to the exclusion of the Q1, or in any case is superior to the Q1.
