Ptolemy's attributions to Fixed Stars

Post by Jim Eshelman » Mon Aug 28, 2017 6:50 pm

In the Tetabiblos I 9, Claudius Ptolemy attributed planetary characteristics to the various fixed stars. I will catalogue them here as a foundation reference, distinguished between zodiacal and extrazodiacal stars.
Ptolemy wrote:As it is next in order to recount the natures of the fixed stars with reference to their special powers, we shall set forth their observed characters in an exposition like that of the natures of the planets, and in the first place those of the ones that occupy the figures around the zodiac itself.
