Jupiter and Sexual Dysfunction

Post by sotonye » Wed Nov 07, 2018 3:47 pm

To my surprise this has not been discussed in depth here, I think it's one of the strangest findings with respect to the planets and their outcomes. How strange it is that the greatest of benefics, the king of the sky, is a poster child for viagra. The only reason I can think of for why this might be the case is that perhaps the Jupiterian soul is too easily satisfied, that Jupiter does not represent unusual prosperity in life but ready contentment in face of whatever it has to offer. I suspect that jovial characters are not always those who have the most, but more commonly those who need the least, and that the area of sexuality is not exempt. Generally, any area of life is subject to atrophy as a result of too ready a satisfaction.

What do you think?

My theory has always been that Jupiter is a t4eext-book descriptor of one of the primary character patterns for this sort of thing: It isn't intrinsically erotic (certainly no more than it's anything else) and it diffuses affection and desire across too wide a 'surface.' For example, it's full of compassion but not passion. It is diffuse rather than concentrated: affection and friendship rather than love and desire: etc. In extreme cases, it just doesn't give a shit.

There are exceptions. Most of them have to do with specific aspects. For example, Mars-Jupiter is quite the opposite, Venus-Jupiter also but in quite different ways. It would also get fired up if it were a matter of others' esteem, of playing according to the social circle's gamebook and seeking social approval, for example. But intrinsically there is noting passionate about Jupiter.

Wow haha one of the first things I thought of was how different it is from Mars! I think the contrast really defines what's going on here.

And the diffusion element, I think that also sums it up really well. Helps further my understanding of its nature. I feel that this also helps explain the amiability we find with Jupiter types: someone who isn't fired up about much, who doesn't have a passion to pursue at the expense of those around him, isn't likely to rub anyone the wrong way (of course wanting to be liked also plays its role).

Another way to put it (which you will understand if you've read Kid Gloves): The way to a Jupiter man's heart is definitely through pleasing his stomach (not dipping six inches lower in this case).

By a Jupiter man you mean a man with prominent Jupiter aspects or Jupiter-ruled signs?

In a study I did with Anna-Kria King in the '70s, it was Sun-Jupiter aspects.

Bradley mentioned it more broadly as a characteristic of any strong Jupiter dominance of the character (which normally would not include "just having a lot of Jupiter aspects" unless angles or luminaries were involved).

I think the Stellium in Sagittarius was wondering if this meant him.

I know :D . The stellium in Sagittarius comes with an angular Mars, though, so it's not a one-note song.

More on what Jim said, my sun is in Sagittarius and my ascendant may be too, if it is then I also have an angular Jupiter and by no means does that tank my sex drive or make me sexually dysfunctional.

In fact I'm quite the opposite [probably from Mars in capricorn squaring Venus in Scorpio]. I'd have agree with Jim about this not being Johnny one note even if one has a large amount of Jupiter energy.

That's probably why I have an intense and not "diffuse" temperament, though broad Jupiter "themes" apply to me well.

I have a Pluto-Moon that's square and 1 degree orb. This also doesn't hinder my ability to sex. Pluto and Jupiter are some of my strongest energies (along with Sun and Venus[?]). Maybe these dysfunctions are only applied in certain situations or maybe my Venus energy undoes them?

I wouldn't call it a dysfunction per se. One could argue Mars and Venus being the definition of sexuality which all others are compared to. Each planet has a sexual characteristic on a spectrum. What Jim said above explains it well.
