Starting the thread... don't know if I'll have time to work up the Indonesian earthquake, but let's get this going...

Indonesian earthquake

Post by Jim Eshelman » Mon Aug 06, 2018 8:09 am

August 5, 2018, 11:46:37 UT, 8S17'14'', 116E27'06'' (near Loloan, Lombok, Indonesia - impact on Bali), magnitude 6.9

So far, the death toll is 91 (it has been predictably climbing). I'm not sure if this should get more attention of the 6.4 quake July 29 (earlier in the series, but fewer fatalities and overall lesser impact).

The charts frankly suck! (The CapQ, as a stand-alone, is fine.)

Death Sentence to be carried out in Nebraska

Post by Jupiter Sets at Dawn » Mon Aug 06, 2018 3:08 pm

10 AM, August 14th,State Penitentiary at Lincoln, NE
Carey Moore, convicted of killing two cab drivers, will be put to death with undisclosed chemicals, the first time the state of NE will use lethal injection, the first time any state uses the recently adopted 4 chemical protocol and the first state-sponsored killing n NE 1997.
Lots of firsts. One big last.

At the scheduled moment, Saturn is about a degree from IC in Sagittarius. "The End."

Furthermore, Lincoln is on that mid-country stretch where the Capsolar's Moon-Mercury-Saturn conjunction is angular, with Saturn 0°48' on one side of IC and Moon 0°48' on the other.

The Caplunar has Mars opposite Sun 0°14' with EP with Sun within 2° of WP and Mars closer to 3° from EP. A Moon-Pluto conjunction is in the rising foreground, among other fine points. - Neptune is on the Canlunar's IC.

For the scheduled hour, murder is on the menu, with CapQ MC 1°08' from transiting Mars Uranus < 2° from square Mc) and ingress Mars 0°56' from CapQ Descendant. This puts the two Marses in an implicit 0°12' square (co-angularity) with relation to those angles. Transiting Saturn will be 0°49' from Capsolar IC.

We don't need anything from the CanQ, but - guess what! - it's MC is the same as the Capsolar MC, so transiting Saturn is also 0°02' from CanQ IC.

While one could conceivably interpret all that Saturn as "everything goes wrong and they have to stop," it seems much more likely that Celebrity Death Event will go off as scheduled.

They're holding it at 10 AM to avoid drunken revelry and bloody fights between revelers and protesters as have happened in the past. They want some sense of decorum. I want to sue so they have to say in the name of the people of Nebraska except JSAD. Another item on the list of things I will do should I ever win the lottery or something.

Mendocino Complex Fire now Cali's biggest

Post by Jim Eshelman » Mon Aug 06, 2018 9:58 pm

The Mendocino Complex fire (a complex of two large fires: the River Fire and Ranch Fire) today became California's largest wild fire ever.

If began July 27, 2018, time unknown in Mendocino County, California. It has presently destroyed 283,800 acres.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mendocino_Complex_Fire

The Ranch Fire started it all, and began July 27, 2018, 12:05 PM near Potter Valley, CA. If there is a single start time for the Mendocino Complex fire, this is it. (The River Fire started about an hour later near Hopland.)

The Ranch Fire began with Pluto near IC and an 0°08' Moon-Mars conjunction partile opposite Sun.

The initial assessment of this event was quite poor, though the CapQ did come through by itself at least with Mars square Ascendant (but at the outer edge of its orb, hardly stunning).

However, I asked Steve to confirm calculation of PSSI progression of the Capsolar, Cansolar, and Arisolar and we hit a bonanza. I'm still not convinced we have a workable, reliable tool in the PSSI because it has been difficult to find sufficient examples that are stunning. (They are so few that they might just be occurring by chance.) But to have a three-for-three hit on this particular event is sobering.

PSSI Capsolar
23°05' Sag p Asc (Apparent Rate)
24°02' Sag p Asc (Mean Rate)
24°18' Sag s Pluto
24°29' Sag t Pluto

PSSI Cansolar

5°27' Cap p MC (Mean Rate)
6°56' Cap t Mars
7°23' Ari p Asc (Apparent Rate)
7°34' Ari t Uranus
8°00' Ari p Asc (Mean Rate)

PSSI Arisolar
20°11' Vir p Asc (Mean Rate)
20°45' Sag p Mars
21°43' Pis p Moon
22°17' Vir p Asc (Apparent Rate)

Mean Rate Average Orb: 16', 27', 89', 26', 34' = 0°38'
Apparent Rate Average Orb: 73', 84', 93', 11', 92' = 0°56'

Ponte Morandi collapse near Genoa

Post by Jim Eshelman » Tue Aug 14, 2018 7:20 am

August 14, 2018, about 11:30 AM, west of Genoa, Italy @ 44N25'33", 8E53'20"

A highway bridge, the Ponte Morandi, collapsed near Genoa today, killing at least 11 people [UPDATE: At least 35.] (one broadcast report said "tens of people") and crushing several vehicles. Structural failure is presumed, pending investigation.

Pluto was on Nadir for the time of collapse, and Moon squared Saturn within 10'. Every chart is spectacular until we get to the usually-most-reliable day charts, where we get let down a little.

Year: Capsolar {+3}

-- Mercury-Uranus sq. 2°12' in mundo
-- Mercury-Saturn conj. 2°26'
Non-angular Sun conjoins Pluto in mundo & squares Uranus in eclipto; Venus sq. Uranus

Quarter: Cansolar (Dormant.)

Quarter: Arisolar {+2}
Moon sq. Asc 0°07'
Saturn on Asc 2°40'
-- Moon-Saturn sq. 2°24'
Mars is 3° & Pluto 6° from Asc
-- Ma/Sa on Asc 0°20'
-- Mars-Pluto conj. 2°33'

Month: Caplunar {+2}
Neptune sq. Asc 0°18' [op. non-ang Venus 2°25']
Mercury is more widely foreground

Week: Canlunar
Saturn sq. Asc 0°51' (3°03' from MC)
Venus sq. MC 0°59' (1°06' from Dsc)
Neptune is more widely foreground
-- Venus-Saturn sq. 0°14'

Day: Capsolar Quotidian & Transits {-P1/+2 = 0}
p MC op. s Jupiter 1°40' [Jupiter is conj. Mars, which is 2°11' from IC]
------------------------------
t Pluto conj. s EP 1°11'

Day: Cansolar Quotidian {+2}
p MC sq. t Pluto 1°27', s Pluto 0°54'

BTW, the AriQ put transiting Saturn within a degree of Descendant, and thus the Moon-Saturn square. Generally a lesser chart, the Arisolar Quotidian was, nonetheless, the best "daily: showing,

As an experiment, here are some (mean rate, slightly inaccurate calculations) PSSI reports:

PSSI Capsolar is poor, putting only transiting Venus on an angle.
PSSI Cansolar is quite good with MC sq. t Mars < 2°.
PSSI Arisolar though, is quite good and just misses being spectacular (it should be checked to see if Apparent rate redeems it). It fell just short of putting transiting Mars on an angle along with Uranus, with a Mercury for cars etc. on MC. As it is, it gives only this:
p Asc sq. t Uranus (~1°)
p MC op. t Venus < 1°, sq. s Saturn 1°

UPDATE:
Steve graciously calculated the Apparent rate PSSI Arisolar angles. It's essentially identical, has the Saturn and Uranus but still misses the Mars.
MC 13°41' Pisces - op. t Venus 1°15', sq. s Saturn 0°28'
Asc 02°34' Cancer - sq. s Uranus 0°43'

The State of Nebraska committed a retalitory murder

Post by Jupiter Sets at Dawn » Tue Aug 14, 2018 9:20 am

At 9:15 AM the order of execution was read in the presence of the inmate, Carey Dean Moore, and witnesses. The IVs were started at 10:24 AM. At 10:25:27 AM the curtain was raised so the witnesses could observe. At 10:31:14 he stopped breathing. At 10:38:46 his eyelids opened partially. At 10:39:12 the curtain was brought down while the body was checked for signs of life. At 10:47 AM he was pronounced dead. At 10:53:20 the curtain was lifted again and the dead body was displayed to the witnesses.
Moore was 60 years old and had been incarcerated for murdering two cab drivers. He was on death row for 31 years.

ETA. This occurred at the Nebraska State Penitentiary, in Lincoln NE.

Thanks, Steve. I've incorporated this above. They're nearly indistinguishable this time. (My estimate of Mean rate gives 13°09' Pisces and 2°11' Cancer).

Kerala, India floods

Post by Jim Eshelman » Sun Aug 19, 2018 8:04 am

Kerala, a state in SW India (Capital: Thiruvananthapuram, 8N29, 76E59) has experienced unusually severe monsoons this year (the worst in a century), killing about 350 people, destroying thousands of homes and roads, and forcing 300,000 people from their homes and into shelters. Current (preliminary) estimates are that property damages total $2.7 billion.

I don't have a date for when these rains began, but one source references flooding in July; another speaks of the monsoon season in general beginning in late May. Today's news speaks of this continuing but showing signs of receding. (CNN: "Flash floods and landslides have killed 171 people in the past 11 days but half of those deaths were reported in the past three days...")

The CAPSOLAR is dormant, meaning that its only contribution is the keenly appropriate Moon-Mercury-Saturn triple conjunction.

The critical chart, though, is the ARISOLAR. Because these events started before mid-July, I guessed ahead of time that the 2018 Cansolar ws dormant, and the Arisolar would tell the story and flow through into the current quarter. This is exactly the case. Like the whole world, India has a Moon-Saturn square in the Arisolar, but the afflicted area has Mars exactly on MC (< 2° for the capital), Saturn and Pluto also in the upper foreground, and Moon, Sun, and Uranus rising. Among the mundane aspects formed are a 1°18' Uranus-Pluto square, 1°52' Sun-Pluto square (Pl=Su/Ur 0°17'), and the Moon-Saturn square being mundane as well as ecliptical.

The current (July 27) Caplunar was especially violent, with a close (mostly partile) Sun-Mars-Uranus T-square on the angles.
